DAY 1
It is so nice to be starting school again! We took a five month break due to the summer and 2 different moves, but we are in our new house and ready to go! Jackson missed the cut-off for Kindergarten, so we have one more year with him in preschool and Alex has at least two more years.
We began the week with Calendar Time (see this post for a general idea of what we do here).
Additionally during Calendar Time, we reviewed all of our letter sounds using our alphabet poster, then we used our sign-language cards to review our sign language alphabet.

I usually introduce our focus letter with a basket full of items that start with that letter sound. Included in our basket this week was our large foam W, a whisk, a washcloth, a window, a wagon, Prince Wednesday, Winnie the Pooh, a whale, our War card game, the Wednesday calendar card, a watermelon threading card, our w sign language card, a water bottle (on the side), and a watch.
The boys love to explore the basket items.

Then we pulled out our apple floor number cards and played our usual game. I place the cards around the room and the boys take turns finding a specific number. When the card is found, the apples are counted and we jump in place that same number of times. So simple, but it's one of their favorite games!
DAY 2

After school we had the opportunity to go to a Halloween Story Time at our new library. The boys decided to wear some masks.
The kids even got to go trick-or-treating around the library. :)
And when we got home, the boys were interested in some water play, so I pulled out a few small funnels and our small thrift-store pitcher for them to use with their cups and bowls.
Their kid-sized bathroom is perfect for them!

We also played a few games of War together. I used to lay out our calendar number cards so Jackson could have a visual for comparison, but we do not need to do that anymore. This game has helped him understand which numbers are bigger or smaller (leading into greater than/less than comparisons).
We finished the week by reading Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and putting our letter w on the coconut tree.
